Lukas Schafli

In 2000, I graduated from Spartan School of Aeronautics with my A&P License, and was hired by American Flyers as a Maintenance Intern, where in exchange for taking care of their Santa Monica, California fleet I earned my Private, Instrument, and Commercial. Two weeks after completing the program–and with just over 200 TT under my belt–9/11 hit, and we all know the rest of that story… I was able to shift gears however, and discovered a passion for teaching and passing on my love of flying as a Certified Flight Instructor. By 2016 I had just under 2,000 hours of Dual Given in my logbook, and it was time to transition back to flying the line.

During my career I have flown the mail, provided flight tours, served as an air ambulance pilot, and experienced the skies above our great nation from coast to coast as both an Airline Captain and Corporate Pilot. Most of my Part 135 time was amassed in Alaska, but I have also operated out of DEN, LAX, ATL, and PHX with Boutique Air. My favorite non-Pilatus memories include flight instructing at the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado; and a close second were the Polar Bear Excursions that launched from Fairbanks, Alaska to the Arctic Ocean in the Piper Navajo Chieftain. I look forward to putting my diverse and extensive experience to work for you; and strive to provide a tailored and premiere experience for each of my Flight Guests.
